The fresh new time associated with concerns like L. Lloyd’s track stated less than. Text off BL MS Pure cotton Vesp. A great.25, thru K. Boeddeker’s article ‘Englische Lieder und auch Balladen aus dem 16. Jahrhundert’, Jahrbuch fur romanische und englische Sprache , Letter. F. II, 1875. Expurgated and you will partial for the Chappell’s PMOT. The brand new day with the ballad is likely period earlier than L. Lloyd’s tune over. A traditional version built-up as opposed to tune, throughout the 1825, try „The fresh Hawthorn Eco-friendly“, p. 4 when you look at the E. B. Lyle’s Andrew Crafurd’s Line of Ballads and Songs 1975. A bad conventional veresion which i suspect was read out-of Chappell’s PMOT, is actually „This new Hawthorn Plant“, p. fifteen in Fred Hammer’s Garners Gay , EFDSS, 1968.
