One of the most exquisite and masterfully crafted vessels is the one with the head of a mythical animal - according to some a ram or bull, and according to other interpretations embodies the image of The magical doe, aka Surya Elen. The body has a hollow ovoid shape, standing on tube feet, resembling animal paws. The reverse head is fabricated separately and then precision soldered.

The treasure was discovered in 1799 G. in the lands of Transylvania, which at that time were part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It consists of 23 gold vessels with a total weight of approx 10 kilo and is one of the most remarkable and mysterious treasures, dating from the early European Middle Ages.
It is considered, that the gold vessels have been collected for over a century, probably inherited, supplemented and even revised as part of them show a connection with Christianity, others are related to Avar and Persian mythology. The main reason for identifying the treasure from Nagi Saint Miklos as proto-Bulgarian is the fact, that in the 9th century the territories along the middle course of the Danube were part of the First Bulgarian Kingdom, the reign of Khan Krum and Khan Omurtag. Another obvious evidence is the inscription in Greek letters around the openwork cross of one of the tas with the titles "boila" and "jupan", which are well known from Bulgarian epigraphic monuments. A great similarity was found between the scene with the triumph of the horseman from the jug and the famous stone relief from the village. Madara, depicting the idea of praising the victor.
