The rhyton is made like a ram's head. The handle of the vessel ends with the figure of a lion. On the neck, the figures of Dionysus with a scepter in hand are depicted in relief, seated on a throne, and the bacchanal Eriope, embracing Dionysus with one arm. Dancing maenads are represented beside them. The Dionysian character of the scene is beyond doubt. The fur consists of a dense row of concentric circles.
According to the Thracians, the ram is a symbol of a proud and strong leader, known for his persistence and tenacity, embodiment of kindness.
The golden ritual service includes a phial (dish) and eight rhytons (cups) with different zoomorphic and anthropomorphic forms. It is considered, that during the ritual feasts the warriors who merited the battle sat in a circle and handed each other the phials and rhytons filled with wine. It is considered, that the amphora was used in the "twinning" ritual. The treasure belonged to an as yet unknown Thracian ruler of the Odrisi tribe, ruled at the end of the 4th and the beginning of the 3rd century BC.
